Sooo, it's 12:34am on June 1st....how do you all have time to blog???
I'm going to be awful at this....urgh!
Anyway...I'll try.....
First 2 Weeks with MG
Mimi was here to help us and we couldn't have done it without her!! I was pretty emotional with all the hormones and adjustments but we made it just fine.
I made my shower and a walk my 2 priorities of the day....if those got accomplished I felt good! So any free moment, that's what I did!
I was successful everyday! YAY! Thanks to Mimi too!
BreastFeeding went well and we were off to a good start
MG slept pretty good when she wasn't screaming in pain
We had a couple painful nights of gas/reflux pain, that broke all of our hearts! :(
Mommy cried too!
MG slept with us in a Moses basket in the bed the first 2 nights, and then we opted for the pack n play. There was a "snuggler" attachment on the pack n play that she slept in. It worked well keeping her at a little angle and helped with the reflux
Her first visit to the Doc Monday after being released from the hospital on Sat
she weighed in at 6.12 - YAY!
2 weeks old - she weighed in at 7lbs 6oz
we went on Zantac at 2.5weeks old to help her reflux
Wearing Newborn clothes - but they are a little big
She napped a lot in her swing
She took a Paci
She really started liking her swaddle
She gave me 3.5-4 hr stretches at night - feeding at 11pm, 3:30am, and then 7-8am
after a couple nights she figured out night and day and went back to sleep really easy and quick after night time feedings
We all really started adjusting
I think it might be a good thing I'm writing this 6 weeks later....as I have forgotten what those painful nights were like....except for one....I'll never forget.... ;) But thanks to Mimi we all survived! Yes, at 11:30pm after 2 hours of crying....My mother came to my rescue, took the baby and told me to go to bed. I cried as she turned and walked away and Jeff and I curled up in bed. I thought I would never be able to soothe my own child. I cried harder when I heard her stop crying 10 min later, wondering what my mom had down that I couldn't do, but at the same time felt relief she was content and sleeping. Whew! Glad that day is behind us!
Daddy just stared at her all the time....
Mommy and Mimi got me the CUTEST leg warmers! AND I got a Great Surprise!! A Tiffany's Diamond Cross Necklace from my great Aunt Cindy, Uncle John and cousins Cole, Blaine and Alex
We celebrated my 2 week birthday....Mommy made me a cake(this cake mix had been in the pantry since I was preggo and I'd been dying to make it....any excuse, right!)
3 WEEKS OLD!
She's now on Zantac for her reflux
She is good about her 3 hr schedule - I started implementing that and not letting her nap longer during the day - she would go almost 5 hrs if I let her!
She really likes her swaddle - and now we NEED it to go to sleep! (It'll be fun trying to break this!...eek)
We listen to Rock-a-bye lullabies all day - She really likes Aerosmith and Bob Marley best! HA!
Easter Morning - April 24, 2011 - I went to church! Mommy managed to get us all ready and we were only 10 min late. I'm 3 weeks old! I slept through the whole service!
I was nice enough to sleep like this through dinner for them! And a little longer so they enjoyed some time on the porch chatting!
Weight 8.1lbs
20.25in long
19th Percentile! - this was actually our 1 month ck up but happened at 5 weeks! Doc is happy with her growth - just said she is going to be a little baby! Which if you haven't seen J and I....that's pretty much a given! HA!
Still wearing NB clothes - 0-3 month stuff is still too big
I take some naps in my crib
I listen to white noise when I sleep and I sleep like a baby
Swaddle, White Noise, and Paci and Mommy holding me......I'm GOOD!!
I've slept 7.5hrs straight! 11-6:30am!!! YAY ME!
Enjoying Tummy Time with Daddy - the only time she has liked tummy time....the other times are a bit of a struggle and mommy doesn't make me stay too long
Mommy and Daddy got out for Morgan and Guys Wedding!! Sally(Jeff's mom, hasn't picked a Grandma name yet) stayed with me!!
May 6, 2011
Napping in my Crib.....Getting used to this.....although I like to sneak my hands out of my swaddle at nap time, bc Momma doesn't put me in as tight(I'm doing that in hopes that breaking the swaddle isn't as difficult bc she can put herself back to sleep with her arms out)
Playing at the James Island County Park with my friend Marin
She might be older and taller.....but look at my GUNS!!
5-6 Weeks OLD
I now sleep about 6-8 hr stretches at night
Our typical day is like this.......
11pm - Bedtime
wake at 6am to eat and go right back to sleep
10am - wake up and eat
Go for a Walk or have Play time in my Play room
11:30 - back down for nap - mommy showers!
1pm - up and eat
2-3:30 - run errands - sleep some in my carseat
4 - eat
5 - motor skills play/tummy time
I don't really like afternoon naps now....so mommy holds me and we rock on the porch and I sleep a little
6pm - daddy comes home
7pm - Daddy gives me a bottle of bm(I haven't had any formula yet)
Mommy gets a break a glass of wine and gets dinner ready
8:30ish bath time
10 - Eat!
11 - In BED!
The above is a good day!! :) That is what we TRY to do....she often doesn't quite make the 3 hrs and wants to eat early. She often fights going to sleep....urgh! especially for naps. But bedtime is pretty easy, as she is READY to go to bed! I do nurse her to sleep!
Part of the reason I think she is bad about napping is bc I'm not consistent with the where....I'm doing that hoping for her to be flexible for when we need to go places etc. One nap is in the pac-n-play, one in crib, one in swing, one in car, one in car seat on a walk....etc. But the good news is she CAN fall asleep in all those places, sometimes it's just a fight to get to sleep!
I think she has her momma's ATMS!(Afraid to Miss Something!) HA
She is starting to Smiles back at us.
Really interacting more now!
Looks at you and grins! It's not just in her sleep or while she is eating anymore!!
Really holding her head up good
Loves being on your shoulder and looking around....or sleeping...
I'm LOVING being able to be home with her!
at 6.5weeks we moved her to her Crib for night time!
She did AWESOME! Didn't phase her!
She slept 9.5 hours straight the first night! I of course woke every 2 hrs to go check on her and make sure she was breathing!
She now goes to sleep pretty easy. We nurse, swaddle, sing and lay down! Sometimes now she doesn't even need paci and she puts herself on to sleep with little to no fuss
She is still on Zantac and I notice most of her fussiness is when she is refluxing(silently). Breaks my heart! Silent Reflux means she gags and you see her basically taste the acid coming up but she doesn't spit up. She makes this awful face like you just put pickle juice in her mouth. :(
She is sleeping through the night consistently now! YAY!
She rubs her little face on your shoulder when she is tired
She is really recognizing us now and smiles from across the room when she sees us
She is recognizing Daddy too!
Still wearing NB clothes! Fit good now! some 0-3month fits ok, but still big.....I'm a little one!
She loves her bath now - still hates being cold - graduated out of the sling and in the bath now!
She loves to look out the windows in the Den and Watch the Fan
Loves the Book Good Night Moon and our Bible
Starting to grasp the rings when playing
I started giving BIG Smiles!
Mommy and Daddy took me to the Symphony in the Park by our house....Mommy had FUN!! :)
We got home and I went Night Night - Uncle Matt played DJ and Momma tried on my headband(that I won't wear!) She looks goofy!
And THANK YOU friends for reading this LONG post!! :) oh, and not giving up on me! :)

Hey Madelyn, I LOVE the picture of your Mama wearing your headband!
